Interreg North Sea region project IWTS 2.0 is delighted to announce the launch of the fully emission- free Green Wave Barge, which is ready to set sail at Euroship in Heerewaarden (Holland) on 20th October 2020!
The IWTS 2.0 project, started in 2017 incorporates ten European partners working together to find and implement solutions to reduce carbon emission, to establish a modal shift from road to water and make a contribution to a more sustainable future.
By showcasing this modal shift from road to water partners hope to inspire other entrepreneurs to adopt green wave similar concepts in their regions.
The launch of the Green Wave barge will be broadcasted via a livestream:

In a transnational cooperation TESCO will operate the fully electric 14.95 metre long barge, which will be sailing in the City of Ghent with building materials and other freights. Freight logistics and manning will be organized by De Groote-Houtboerke in Ghent.
